what. the. fuck.
now most of you know me as someone with a cool head who tries to keep away from political things when talking to others, cuz you know how much i hate politics. i just read an article about cindy sheehan, mother of casey sheehan, who was KIA last year in iraq. she was arrested on Sept 26 in washington, d.c., along at least 300 others, for protesting without a permit outside the whitehouse. what really pisses me off in this is the fact that it is required in our country to have a thrice-damned permit, which must be obtained from the government, to protest actions taken by said government. to use terms my grandma might have used once upon a time, you have to ask the Man's permission to tell Him that He's a dumbass and a prick. seriously, what the fuck?

If you're a pacifist, a neo-nazi, or a Jewish youth group you're just as likely to get a permit, provided there's not a strong reason to believe you're going to be burning cars and the like.
Personally, I don't really mind the permit process. It's newfangled things like the president's "Free Speach Zone" outside of the area where he's putting on a show that bother me. Because that is outright saying that free speach is not a universal thing in this country anymore. A permit for a protest is simply a delay, and it gives the police time to put on their riot gear.
